an ideal environment for individualised movement

Clinical Pilates North Ryde

Our Clinical Pilates classes are run by trained instructors and certified Physiotherapists, making it an ideal environment for individualised movement to be tailored to your goals and movement abilities. When you immerse yourself in our Pilates classes, we will follow six (6) core principles.

Concentration is focused on the starting position and performing slow and smooth movements of each area of the body. Our small class sizes help minimise distraction and allow your concentration to enhance your experience.

A refreshing sensation is experienced as we teach efficient breathing techniques. Deep breaths relax the body and provides a better focus. Coordinating breathing with movement is most beneficial.

By providing examples of muscle activation, each movement aims to be completed with control, understanding that this may be a different experience for everyone.

All movements start from centering – engaging the core muscle group that assists with the majority of movements. These muscles include (but are not limited to) your diaphragm, gluteals and pelvic floor muscles. These core muscle groups create a ‘powerhouse’, where movement is generated. A fundamental goal of Pilates is to strengthen your ‘Powerhouse’.

The precision of each movement is important and can be modified to help you achieve these positions in a way that is possible and beneficial for YOU.

Movement should start from a strong and engaged ‘powerhouse’ (core) and flow gently and slowly.
